Finance and Administration

Oxfam is a foundation, which means that we are independent of owners and members. The Foundation manages donations earmarked for Oxfam's work against poverty and injustice. The Foundation is managed by a Board of Trustees together with the Secretary General.

Oxfam's Board in Sweden shall always consist of at least 6 and at most 9 members and reflect diversity. When a new member is appointed, the board should prepare a profile that defines the skills required. New board members are appointed by Oxfam Novib in the Netherlands. Board members are elected for a three-year term, with the possibility of two re-elections.

The Secretary General of Oxfam in Sweden has a monthly salary of 66 000 sek. The salary is set by the Board, taking into account the responsibilities of the position. The Secretary General has no special pension benefits and is not covered by the Employment Protection Act.

Other employees are covered by the Akademikerförbund's collective agreement and have salaries in line with the sector.

Oxfam Sweden has a 90-account, which means that we are affiliated to, and controlled by, the Swedish Fundraising Control. Each year, a maximum of 25% of the funds raised goes to administration and fundraising costs in accordance with the rules for the 90-account.

The 90 account is a quality stamp for serious fundraising organisations that guarantees that fundraising is conducted in an ethically correct manner and that the funds collected are used for the intended purpose. The 90 account shows that the holder has met the requirements of the Swedish Fundraising Control. You can read more about the requirements and what they mean on the Swedish Fundraising Control website: http://www.insamlingskontroll.se/
